Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has disclosed when he will make his first international appearance as he prepares for the Olympic Games.

Reigning Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala will officially open his World Indoor Tour campaign at the Miramas Indoor Meet in France this weekend on Friday 2 February.

Omanyala will then proceed to the Indoor Meeting in Paris on February 14 before winding up his tour at the World Indoor Tour Championships in Glasgow, Scotland scheduled for March 1 to 3.

He shared the news on his X (Twitter) handle, posting a graphic and captioning it: “Seasons come and go but the memories and history we create will always last forever. And with that, the 2024 season is here with us. Here is my indoor calendar. What's up France...”

The African 100m record holder has only competed twice this season and he will be hoping for a great indoor tour.

He opened his season with a 400m race in the second Athletics Kenya meet held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex where he finished fifth.

Omanyala then proceeded to the third AK meet at the Nyayo National Stadium and he competed in the 200m, clocking the fourth-fastest time in the world to win the race.

He now begins his build-up to the Olympic Games with the three international races. Omanyala certainly hopes that he will have a smooth run just like last year.

Last season, Omanyala won three out of the four races that he competed in during his indoor tour. He started with a second-place finish at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas meeting before winning the Mondeville Meeting.

Omanyala then stunned his opponents at the Meeting de Paris before winding up his indoor tour at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais.
