Mary Moraa has revealed the attribute she is working on improving about her running ahead of the Olympic games as the reason she will try reverting to 400m events this season.

World 800m champion Mary Moraa has revealed what she is working on in order to dominate the forthcoming Olympic Games in Paris in seven months.

Moraa got her campaign off to a good start during the third Athletics Kenya meet of the season at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday in the 400m after clocking 53 seconds to emerge victorious in her heat.

Now, the reigning 800m champion has revealed what she has been working on ahead of the Olympic Games as she is also taking on the 400m race, which was her original category when she launched her athletics career.

“I have been doing a lot of speedwork so that I can improve my speed for the next big event in Paris,” Moraa told Nation.

“For now, I am just focusing on speed so that I can run 800 meters well.”

Moraa, who is the national 400m record holder with a time of 50.38, will be hoping she can break it during the national trials for the Paris Olympic Games at the same venue six months from now.

The 23-year-old has already revealed she is uncertain about competing at the World Indoor Championships scheduled for March 1 to 3 in Glasgow, United Kingdom, revealing her coach would give her further directives.

For now, she has stated that she will be “cooking” something in order to make sure that she will dominate the 800m race even better than she did in Budapest during the World Championships last August.
