The Boston Marathon is scheduled for April 17.
A fast paced and foxy trio of Ethiopian runners comprising Shura Kitata, Lelisa Desisa and Herpasa Negasa are plotting for infallible Eliud Kipchoge when elite road runners assemble at the starting line of 2023 Boston Marathon next month.
Boston remains the only World Marathon Major leg that Kipchoge is yet to conquer after securing big wins at the Berlin, New York City, Chicago, Tokyo, and London in his distinguished marathon career.
However, the trio of Kitata, Desisa, and Negasa will be keen to deny Kipchoge the chance to realise his dream. Kitata has only won one of the major marathons, the 2020 London Marathon. He, however, finished on the podium in three of the marathon editions (twice at the New York City marathon and once at the London Marathon).

Kitata will also be debuting at the Boston Marathon and he will be lining up with a personal best time of 2:04:49. The 27-year-old did not have a good start to the season, however, when he placed seventh at the Houston Half Marathon.
Meanwhile, Desisa, the 2018 New York Marathon champion, comes back to Boston after four successful podium finishes. He won the 2013 and 2015 editions and placed second in 2016 and 2019. With mastery in the course, Desisa will be keen to use that to his advantage.
On his part, Negasa will also be lining up as a debutant in Boston. The race will also be his first World Marathon Major. Negasa has a lifetime best of 2:03:40.
Together, the trio will work to dethrone the G.O.A.T over the distance. However, Kipchoge is also not a walk over and they will have a hard time.
From his Facebook posts, Kipchoge has been working hard in training ahead of the marathon. All eyes will be on him as he looks to achieve the great milestone of his career.
Kipchoge seems to be bubbling with excitement and eagerness ahead of the marathon. “Boston, I can’t wait for you,” a post on his Facebook page read.
Kipchoge will be joined by compatriots defending champion Evans Chebet, Chicago Marathon champion Benson Kipruto, 2021 New York City Marathon champion Albert Korir, Michael Githae, Nobert Kigen, Mark Korir and John Korir.
