Joel Omotto 07:48 - 26.06.2025

Faith Kipyegon will attempt to become the first woman to run a mile under four minutes and she will be paced by an elite cast of Olympic medalists and Diamond League winners.

Faith Kipyegon is poised to make history as she is aiming to become the first woman to break the four-minute mile barrier in Paris on Thursday.

The record attempt will unfold at Stade Sebastien Charlety in Paris, the same venue where Kipyegon broke her current 1,500m world record and her then-world record in 5,000m in 2023.

Mirroring Eliud Kipchoge's Breaking2 marathon project in 2017, Kipyegon's attempt will feature precision pacing, optimised track conditions, and custom Nike footwear and apparel.

The feat requires her to shave a significant 7.65 seconds off her current world record and her quest will be aided by a team of elite pacers who will be crucial to her attempt.

Twelve international Nike athletes, along with several of Kipyegon's Kenyan training partners, will be pacing her during this historic run.
