Every new season brings fresh hopes, with 2025 not being an exception, but there are also possibilities of physical risks like injuries, which are always present.
Injuries are capable of altering the trajectory of even the brightest careers in an instant, and it has always been evident. For instance, at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Shericka Jackson was forced to give up on her dreams due to an injury. Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson has also been a victim of injuries.

Letsile Tebogo had been off to a great start to his outdoor season, starting with a series of 400m races before making his 200m debut at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix, where he won the race.
Letsile Tebogo then competed in the 100m at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, where he missed the podium but bounced back to a third-place finish in Keqiao.
The reigning Olympic 200m champion then proceeded to win the 200m at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha before his injury struck at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen has been a notable absentee in the outdoor events, following his dominant indoor display.
The Olympic 5000m champion was flawless as he went unbeaten in all his indoor races, capping the campaign off with a win in the 1500m and 3000m at the World Indoor Championships.
However, he has since been forced to postpone his outdoor campaign after suffering a strained Achilles tendon in May. This not only affected when he would compete in his first outdoor race but also forced him to postpone his training camp.
He had been confirmed for the Bislett Games (June 12) and Ostrava Golden Spike (June 24) but has since withdrawn from both events.
4) Keely Hodgkinson

Reigning Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson has not raced since winning gold in the 800m at the Paris Olympic Games.
She was looking to open her season at her event, Keely Klassic, but was forced to postpone her season opener to a later date.
In mid-February, the world 800m bronze medallist experienced a Grade‑3C hamstring tear during final training for the inaugural Keely Klassic meet. Keely Hodgkinson was hoping to attack the indoor world record but had to put it on hold.

However, she suffered a slight hamstring tear during warm‑up at the European Indoor Championships in early March and was forced to withdraw from the 400m heats despite anchoring a strong mixed 4×400m relay.
She took time off and came back for the World Athletics Relays, where luckily, both the 4x400m relay and mixed relays that she was in qualified for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
