As the countdown to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations continues, there will be teams heading to Morocco under new coaches after their previous tacticians were recently dismissed.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is three weeks away in Morocco but even with the limited time, a number of countries are still effecting coaching changes.
So far, five coaches have been sacked in the months and weeks leading up to the tournament and at this trend, more could still follow even with teams releasing their squads.
So, which coaches will not be in the dugout when the tournament takes place from December 21 to January 18 in Morocco having led their teams to qualification?

Pedro Goncalves
Portuguese coach Pedro Goncalves was the first to be dismissed when he was sacked by Angola in September after a series of underwhelming performances.
Goncalves had been in charge since 2019 and led them to the quarter-finals of AFCON 2023, won the 2025 COSAFA Cup but a poor outing at CHAN 2024 proved to be the final straw as he was sacked days after the tournament.
Angola appointed Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle, a former Zambia and Ivory Coast coach, to replace Goncalves, who has since been appointed by Tanzanian giants Yanga.
Michael Nees
German Michael Nees was sacked by Zimbabwe in late October after a poor World Cup qualifying campaign.
Nees, who arrived in August 2024 and guided the Warriors to AFCON 2025 qualification, won only two of his 14 matches after, and the powers that be found it hard to keep him in the job, opting to sack him and bring in Romanian coach Marian Marinica.
Hemed Suleiman
Tanzania ruthlessly axed Hemed Suleiman at the start of November despite a commendable job after he had led the Taifa Stars to qualify for AFCON 2025, reached the quarter-final of the 2024 African Nations Championships and managed third place in their World Cup qualification group.
That failure to finish at least in the top two of their World Cup qualification group proved to be the last straw as Tanzania relieved the Zanzibari-born coach of his duties and handed the job to veteran Argentine Miguel Gamondi.
Gamondi, who has coached several clubs in Africa, including Yanga and Singida Black Stars in Tanzania, will lead Taifa Stars at AFCON 2025, hoping to go past the group stages for the first time in their history.
Avram Grant
Another coach who fell by the wayside after failure to seal a World Cup ticket was veteran Israeli tactician Avram Grant, who was dismissed by Zambia at the end of October.
Grant, who took over in December 2022, qualified Zambia to back-to-back AFCONs in 2023 and 2025 but a poor CHAN 2024 campaign, when they lost all their four group matches, added to third place in their World Cup qualification group saw the 71-year-old ex-Chelsea boss sacked.
Zambia appointed former defender Moses Sichone to lead them ahead of AFCON 2025.
Marc Brys
Belgian Marc Brys is the latest to face the axe after he was ruthlessly sacked on Monday by Cameroon Football Association (FECAFOOT) boss Samuel Eto’o immediately after his re-election for a second term.
Brys was not in good books with Eto’o since he was a government appointment and not the federation’s and with FECAFOOT and the Sports Ministry always at loggerheads, the ex-Indomitable Lions captain won this battle.
The coach also did not cover himself in glory, when he failed to guide Cameroon to World Cup qualification from a group won by Cape Verde, and when Eto’o got his chance, he wielded the axe and replaced him with his assistant David Pagou.
