World Champion Peres Jepchirchir Leads Star-Studded Field at 2025 Valencia Marathon
Reigning world marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has been announced for the 2025 Valencia Marathon scheduled for Sunday, December 7.
Peres Jepchirchir stunned a strong field to win the women’s marathon at the World Athletics Championships, winning the race in 2:24:43.
The former London Marathon champion will now line up for the women’s marathon in the streets of Valencia, hoping to end her season on a high.

Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa came in second in 2:24:45, ahead of Uruguay’s Julia Paternain, who rounded up the podium in 2:27:23.
Who Will Be Up Against Peres Jepchirchir in Valencia Marathon?
A thrilling contest is expected as Ethiopian Amane Beriso, the 2023 champion and current Valencia course record holder with a time of 2:14:58, faces Peres Jepchirchir, who has a personal best time of 2:16:16.
Owing to her recent form, Peres Jepchirchir will be a force to reckon with. Another, Kenya, Joyciline Jepkosgei, who lines up with a personal best time of 2:16:24, will also be one to watch.
The Kenyan duo is familiar with victory in the ‘City of Running,’ though Joycilline Jepkosgei’s triumph came over the half-marathon distance. Others in the race include Keira D'Amato, Fikrte Wereta, Charlotte Purdue and Emma Bates.
Valencia Marathon: Men’s Field
Despite featuring big names such as the 2023 champion Sisay Lemma (2:01:48) and a strong field of sub-2:05 runners, including Europeans Samuel Fitwi (2:04:56).
World marathon silver medallist Amanal Petros (2:04:58) will also be lining up with the spotlight once again falling on the debutants.
In a city and on a course renowned for favouring first-timers, newcomers like Kenyans Vincent Nyageo and Patrick Mosin have drawn attention, aiming to deliver impressive performances in their first test over the 42.195 km distance.
“Valencia is once again the destination for the most ambitious debutants. The victories of Kelvin Kiptum and Sebastian Sawe in previous years have clearly helped to build awareness of the advantages our marathon offers for debutants,” Marc Roig, coach of the Valencia Marathon's international elite, said.
With an elite field packed with world champions, record holders, and ambitious debutants, the 2025 Valencia Marathon promises another unforgettable edition.
As Peres Jepchirchir looks to crown her season with victory and new talents aim to make their mark, all eyes will once again turn to the streets of the ‘City of Running,’ where history has so often been rewritten.
