WNBA: Nigerian-Born Kiki Iriafen makes history as Mystics defeat Storm
Nigerian-born basketball sensation Okikiola "Kiki" Iriafen etched her name into Washington Mystics franchise history.
Kiki was key with a stellar performance that led her team to a hard-fought victory over the Seattle Storm.
The 6-foot-3 forward, with Nigerian heritage, delivered a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist.
She was in action for 25 minutes as the Mystics secured a 74-69 win away from home.

This performance surpassed a legendary mark set by Chamique Holdsclaw, making Iriafen the Mystics' rookie with the most double-doubles in a single season.
Iriafen, born in Los Angeles, California, to Nigerian parents, has quickly risen through the ranks of women's basketball.
She is never shy of her Nigerian heritage as he wore a culturally featured attire to the NBA Draft.
A standout player at Stanford University made her a top-five pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
