According to a press release from CAF, the workshop was organised in line with the body’s commitment to invest in Women’s football.

It is also in line with the mandate of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s dream to empower African countries and teams in global events.

Four countries, Morocco, Zambia, South Africa and Nigeria will be in New Zealand and Australia later this year to take part in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

CAF wants to see the women’s teams build on the performance of Morocco, who reached the semifinal in the men’s category last year.

Super Falcons are one of the teams heading to the FIFAWWC.

“The workshop was designed to empower the teams’ analysts and technical staff with the necessary tools to harness their full potential - using data and technology,” CAF Director of Technical Development, Raul Chipenda, said.

“By leveraging this invaluable resource, the teams can optimize their preparations ahead of the World Cup. We will also be on standby should they need any form of support from CAF,” he added.
