Hughton's tenure was cut short after Ghana's failure to advance beyond the group stage, a disappointment that sparked a nationwide call for a new direction. 

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has since been on a rigorous hunt, setting up a five-member committee tasked with the significant duty of sifting through over 600 applications from across the globe within a strict 21-day deadline.

The race has attracted an array of candidates from different continents, underscoring the appeal and prestige of leading Ghana's national team.

Among the notable names are Felix Magath, a veteran German coach known for his stints at Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg, and Croatian Nikola Jurcevic, a former West Ham coach. 

These high-profile applicants highlight the global interest in the position and the potential for a diverse range of tactical approaches to rejuvenate the Black Stars.

Amidst this intense competition, Otto Addo stands out not just for his previous experience with the team but also for his impressive performance during the interview process.

Reports from Nhyira FM indicate that Addo, who led Ghana in 2022, achieved the highest score among the interviewees, positioning him as a frontrunner for the role. 

His unique blend of international exposure and local understanding presents a compelling case for his candidacy, especially considering his contributions as a player and his coaching success.

Furthermore, the GFA's search extends beyond the head coach position, with discussions around technical roles involving celebrated former players. 

Asamoah Gyan and Adam Kwarasey are being considered for the team manager and goalkeepers’ trainer positions, respectively.

Furthermore, Laryea Kingston who is currently serving as the assistant coach of Ghana's Under-17 National Team is linked with an assistant coach role for the Black Stars.
