It came down to the wire, but Barcelona successfully registered Marcus Rashford and Joan García in time for their La Liga debut this Saturday.
The Spanish giants' recurring issues with Financial Fair Play regulations have forced them into administrative gymnastics at the start of each season.
Laporta thanks Deco
Abola reported that Joan Laporta gave the green light thanks to Deco's efforts. "He was working very effectively, managing the entire process and had already told me that everything was on track.
"We must congratulate him for the excellent work he's doing with these registrations, which everyone understands is a delicate situation," Laporta said of the former Portuguese international, who has been sporting director since 2023, as reported by Sportal.
"All clubs are striving to comply with the rules, and we are very pleased with Deco's good work," he added.
Barcelona successfully registered forward Marcus Rashford for their opening LaLiga match against Mallorca, ending a period of doubt and frustration for the club.
The registration was secured through a series of last-minute financial manoeuvres, clearing the path for the former Manchester United player to make his competitive debut.
