Kenya lost 2-0 to Australia in the FIFA Series final at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday but put up an impressive display and should have won or drawn the game had they taken their chances.

Starlets got into dangerous areas on several occasions but poor finishing and decision making was their undoing while they made mistakes at the back that allowed the Matildas to punish them.

Adam is, however, picking positives from the match and the tournament, which also saw them beat India 2-0 on Saturday, saying that Kenya have displayed enough quality to make it to the World Cup.

World Cup Possible for Harambee Starlets?

“As I said, the game would be decided in 90 minutes and it did. It was a good game and you have seen it was a good tournament and we have seen where we are. I can say we are also capable of playing at the World Cup,” Adam, popularly known as Dogo, told the media after the match.

“We have taken the game to them and they have seen what we are capable of. We had good possession and they saw our quality. I am happy with the game. I am proud with my team and we will continue from where we left.”

Adam is looking forward to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with confidence and it is from this tournament that a World Cup ticket will be secured.

Kenya’s first WAFCON appearance in 2016 saw them eliminated at the group stage but to make it to the World Cup, they must reach the semi-final at the 2026 edition as the top four teams will make it to the global tournament in Brazil next year.
