Washington Spirit recall Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun from loan spell
Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun has been recalled by Washington Spirit from her loan deal with Dallas Trinity.
Abiodun, joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit from the University of Pittsburgh in January 2025. She was immediately sent on loan to Dallas Trinity in order to gain more top-flight experience.
Although her loan was initially set to run until the end of the year, Washington Spirit have opted to recall her five months early.

Why spirit made the decision
The recall comes after a string of standout performances from Abiodun for both Dallas Trinity and the Nigerian national team.
She played in 14 matches across all competitions for Dallas and also impressed at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she was a key figure in Nigeria’s title-winning campaign.
Abiodun has steadily established herself as one of Nigeria’s brightest young midfielders.
