The match, extending over 120 minutes, provided both sides with ample opportunities to fine-tune their strategies ahead of the forthcoming season.

From the onset, Atlanta United adopted a pressure-heavy game plan, focusing on fortifying their backline while simultaneously pushing the pace forward.

Among the standouts was left fullback Caleb Wiley marking his preseason debut with a commendable performance that included one of Atlanta's most promising early chances.

In response, CF Montreal, with Wanyama orchestrating moves from the midfield, established a defensive line at midfield aiming to neutralize Atlanta's advances.

However, it was Atlanta who broke the deadlock in the 34th minute through a deflected effort by Georgian international Saba Lobjanidze setting the tone for the remainder of the match.

Despite falling behind, Montreal buoyed by Wanyama's relentless energy and vision continued to probe Atlanta's defense.

Wanyama himself forced a save from Atlanta goalkeeper Josh Cohen, signaling Montreal's intent to claw back into the game. Montreal wingback Ariel Lassiter also came close to leveling the scores, underlining the competitive nature of the match.

Atlanta doubled their lead through a long-range effort from Tyler Wolff exploiting space left by Montreal's tactical adjustments.

The introduction of new players, including goalkeeper Quentin Westberg for Atlanta, added fresh dynamics to the game.
