Sporting Lisbon held a firm stance on their valuation of Viktor Gyokeres, initially demanding as much as €100 million (£87 million), even though his release clause was also reported to be that amount.
Add-ons disputes were also among the top hindrances as Arsenal reportedly wanted more challenging clauses like a Ballon d'Or clause, while Sporting preferred easily achievable bonuses like appearances, goals, and Champions League qualification.
This delayed the finalisation of the deal significantly, but it has been reported by various sources that Sporting Lisbon and Arsenal have finally reached an agreement despite the prolonged negotiation process for the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres.
Viktor Gyokeres: The Amount Sporting Lisbon Will Receive From Arsenal

The club will also receive €1 million for each Champions League group stage qualification (up to €4 million). Viktor Gyokeres’ agents will also waive €6.5 million in commission fees due on the fixed transfer amount.

Viktor Gyokeres: Is He the Striker Arsenal Need?
Viktor Gyokeres has attracted significant interest during the summer transfer window after a sensational season with Sporting, where he scored 54 goals in 52 appearances.
The BBC Sport reported that Arsenal had shifted their focus to the Swedish striker after talks with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko stalled.
Last season, Arsenal scored 17 fewer goals than Liverpool and finished 10 points behind the Premier League champions. Mikel Arteta recently bolstered his attacking options with the signing of 23-year-old England winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea.
A former Brighton and Coventry forward, Viktor Gyokeres, has netted an impressive 97 goals in 102 matches across two standout seasons in Portugal, playing a key role in helping Sporting clinch back-to-back Primeira Liga titles.
Before moving to Portugal, he was one of the Championship’s most prolific strikers, scoring 43 goals in 116 appearances for Coventry City and earning a place in the 2022–23 Championship Team of the Year after leading the club to the play-off final.
He then joined Sporting in a deal worth around £20 million. On the international stage, Viktor Gyokeres debuted for Sweden in 2019 against Finland and has since earned 26 caps, scoring 15 goals.
