Victor Wanyama: Ex-Harambee Stars Captain's Wife Serah Teshna Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Fallen Mother-in-Law
Serah Teshna, wife to former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, delivered a moving tribute to her late mother-in-law, Mildred Wanyama, as she was laid to rest in Soy, Uasin Gishu County on Saturday afternoon.
Mildred, who passed away in mid-June, was remembered not only as a matriarch of a large and influential family but also as a former volleyball player in her youth and the wife of Noah Wanyama. She was the mother of 15 children, including Kenya’s football stars Victor Wanyama and McDonald Mariga.
During the emotional send-off, Serah reflected on Mildred’s strength, kindness, and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.

“Not many have lived to see their parents survive to old age as mother did,” Serah said. “Not many parents have lived to see their grandchildren go to school and even end up being successful. Thank you so much.”
Teshna: Mama Mildred Raised a Real Gentleman in Victor
In a deeply personal message, Serah praised her late mother-in-law for the values she instilled in her children, particularly in Victor, with whom she has been in a relationship for over seven years.
“I want to thank my mother for Victor — a very hardworking, successful, gentle and family-oriented man — something he got from mum. I feel so blessed because she raised a real gentleman.”
Serah and Victor are parents to two young sons — Arel, born in September 2021, and their second-born, Gigi, who arrived in May 2024. She expressed her hope that her children will grow up cherishing the memory of their grandmother.
“My prayer is that as we grow and as the children grow, they will learn about how amazing their grandmother was and that we will pass this on to the generations to come,” she added.
She also thanked the wider Wanyama family for the love and warmth they’ve shown her over the years. “All these gentlemen and daughters invited me into their home with open arms and they loved us so much,” she said.
The tribute served as a touching reminder of the importance of family, legacy, and the quiet strength of matriarchs whose influence is felt across generations.
