Victor Boniface: Why AC Milan Want to Back Out of Deal to Sign Nigerian Striker
Victor Boniface is set to return to Germany on Sunday as AC Milan deliberates whether to finalise his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen due to lingering fitness concerns.
The Nigerian striker underwent medical examinations with the Rossoneri on Friday and Saturday. However, the condition of his right knee, which sustained damage in both 2019 and 2020, has prompted the Serie A giants to pause before committing to the deal.
Adding to their hesitation, Boniface also missed several matches last season with various muscle injuries.

Fitness Concerns Threaten Boniface’s Deal
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, it is increasingly likely that Milan will pull out of the negotiations. However, a final decision has not yet been made. Sky Sport Italia reported on Saturday that the club might still sign Boniface along with another center-forward before the summer transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Milan has had a difficult start to the new Serie A season, suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Cremonese.
On Saturday, club director Igli Tare addressed the situation regarding the medical tests.
"There were no additional medical tests," Tare stated. "We were aware of his previous issues. We are evaluating everything as planned regarding the player's health and physical condition. His qualities are undeniable. We are simply trying to make the right decision for this situation."
