Vardy reveals how Chelsea boss influenced his Serie A move
Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy has revealed that Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca helped convince him to sign for Serie A outfit Cremonese after leaving the Foxes.
As Pulse Sports reported, Vardy’s fairy-tale career took an interesting turn with the Leicester City hero set to embark on his first adventure outside of England with the move to Serie A newcomers Cremonese.
Cremonese confirmed a full agreement to bring in Jamie Vardy on a free transfer after he ended his 13-year stay with Leicester City earlier this summer.
What Vardy said
The choice to join Cremonese was interesting, but Vardy revealed that his former coach, Maresca, helped nudge him to the club.
“When I was young, I always watched Serie A on Channel Four,” Vardy said. “It’s one of the best leagues in the world, more tactical and with more ball possession than the English one, but I played for Enzo Maresca, who has the same style, and that will help me. Ranieri? I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will; he’s had some nice things to say about me.”
“I spoke to him [Enzo Maresca] a lot when the contact with Cremonese was made. Enzo had beautiful words for the club and advised me to come and play here.”
