Valencia part ways with Gennaro Gattuso
Valencia have ended their relationship with Gennaro Gattuso following a bad run of results.
The Italian manager took over management of the club in the summer of 2022 after Jose Bordalas was fired. After 22 games at the helm, the 45-year-old has now left the role.
Valencia announced Gattuso’s exit
Valencia announced today, January 30th, via their official channels that Gattuso’s contract has been terminated by mutual agreement.
The club put a statement on their website thanking the manager for the work he did in the months he was in charge.
Valencia’s statement: “The Club wants to thank the coach for his commitment and work in these months in charge of the first team and wish him the best of luck in his future.”
The club announced that Salvador Gonzalez, ‘Voro’, who has previously held the role six different times, would take over training on an interim basis.
Gattuso’s sacking comes off the back of a poor run of results; Valencia have only won one of their last 10 league games and are 14th on the league table, only one point away from relegation. They also suffered a humiliating 3-1 Copa del Rey knockout loss at the Mestella To Athletic Club.
