Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele to miss Manchester United clash
Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is set to miss the first leg of their Europa League encounter with Manchester United after scans revealed the extent of his injury.
Dembele injured against Girona
Dembele came off in the 25th minute of Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Girona in La Liga and it appears that the French winger has succumbed to another injury.
Dembele is expected to be out of action for at least three weeks after an injury to his left rectus femoris muscle.
This means Dembele will miss La Liga games against Real Betis, Sevilla, and Villarreal, as well as the crucial Europa League first leg against Manchester United.
Dembele has struggled with injury throughout his Barcelona stay and has now missed 700 days of his Barcelona career through injury.
Dembele has been crucial to Barcelona’s successes this season
Barcelona fans will be hoping he can get back to the pitch as soon as possible, since he has been one of the best players at the club this season, helping the club’s cause with eight goals and seven assists in all competitions.
Before the injury, Dembele was having arguably his best season with Barcelona and was a key performer in Barcelona’s rise to the top of La Liga, pitching in with five goals and five assists in the league.
Cules will hope that the injury doesn’t cause a dip in form for Dembele as they will depend heavily on him in the business end of the season.
