Nigeria's under-17 girls national football team known as the Flamingos are out of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

The team led by Bankole Olowookere suffered a 0-2 loss to their counterparts from the United States of America (USA) in a quarterfinal fixture played on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

The game was a rematch of the quarterfinals between the two countries at the 2022 edition in India.

The USA would defend deep to start and were awarded a penalty in the 40th minute.

Kennedy Fuller stepped up to convert and give the USA the lead which they maintained until the halftime break.

The Flamingos started the second half searching for an equalizer as the USA continued to defend their advantage.

The second goal for the USA came in the 74th minute as Fuller located Kimmi Acsanio to slot home.

The Flamingos made several changes but were unable to produce a comeback.

The victory means the Flamingos who won all three group games are eliminated.

The USA progressed to the semifinals to face the winner of the game between North Korea and Poland.
