Torino 3-0 Napoli: Bulls run riot against champions without Nigeria's Victor Osimhen
It was a case of no Victor Osimhen, no party for Italian champions SSC Napoli following an embarrassing defeat at Torino.
A Duvan Zapata-inspired Torino produced an impressive display to thrash 10-man defending champions Napoli 3-0 during their Serie A encounter, with Osimhen away on international duty with Nigeria.
Napoli struggle without Osimhen
The champions continue their free fall after another poor performance and defeat in the League.
Zapata was the architect this time as he created two of the gals en route to two assists, with goals from Antonio Sanabria, Nikola Vlasic and Alessandro Buongiorno handing the hosts a famous win.
Napoli, who were without main man and top scorer last season, Osimhen, finished the clash with ten men after Pasquale Mazzocchi was given a straight red hand five minutes into the second half.
The 25-year-old, who was recently crowned African Player of the Year in addition to his Italian Player of the Year award, is in Abu Dhabi with the Nigeria Super Eagles preparing for the 2023 AFCON.
Nigeria is looking for a fourth AFCON title, 10 years after the nation last lifted the title and will battle host Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.
In his absence, his club Napoli has kicked off the New Year with a heavy defeat, extending their winless streak to three defeats in the last four matches, with a draw.
