IShowSpeed is in Kenya as part of his 28-day tour of Africa known as “Speed Does Africa Tour” which has taken him to South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique so far.

The 20-year-old was a big attraction as hundreds of thousands of his fans turned up in Nairobi to welcome him on Sunday and he streamed his entire tour live, gaining 360,000 new subscribers, while hitting a new milestone of 48 million subscribers on his channel.

Speed visited a number of places in Nairobi, among them Upper Hill High School, where he met Kenyan javelin legend Juliu Yego, Uhuru Market, Nairobi National Park and Nairobi CBD, where he experienced rally and matatu rides.

He completed his first day with a helicopter ride around the Nairobi skyline and here is where he got a chance to see the 60,000-seater Talanta Stadium, whose construction is close to completion as Kenya prepares to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

“That is a good-looking stadium. Hold on, are they making it now? It is not even done? Oh, Talanta Stadium? Never had about that stadium,” he further stated, upon realising the facility is still under construction.

By the end of last month, the government said construction work at the stadium was 70 per cent done with focus on its exterior, where installation of the stadium emblem interior canopy was nearing completion. The playing surface is also being levelled to meet international standards.

Talanta Stadium will have seven modern changing rooms, VIP lounges, fully-equipped media centres, VAR booths integrated with goal-line technology among other facilities while a four-star hotel and shopping mall are set to be built next to the facility.
