Standard High Zana, Layibi boot out Jinja SSS, Old Kampala's 20-year wait continues

Jinja Senior Senior Secondary School produced one of their best performances to beat Bukedea Comprehensive 4-0, but that was not enough to save elimination from the 2023 National Schools Football Boys’ Championship in Fort Portal.

Emmanuel Kirunda grabbed a hattrick for the Hassan Zungu-coached side as Jordan Icon added the fourth but could not save.

The victory took Jinja SSS to 12 points but was not sufficient to match Standard High School Zana and St. College Layibi.

Zana also ensured another former champion Old Kampala dropped out following a 3-0 result as they cemented their lead with 16 points.

Old Kampala last won the championship in 2003 in Lira District.

Layibi kept chase of the top with a 4-0 over Nakwasi Seed in the other Group D encounter.
