Shericka Jackson set for 100m season debut against respectable field in Rabat
Jamaican sprint queen Shericka Jackson will finally make her 100m season's debut at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, May 25.
Competing against a respectable field, Jackson will aim for her first outdoor win of the season. Top on the list capable of challenging her for victory in Rabat is American speedster Cambrea Sturgis, who has a Season's Best (SB) performance of 10.98s.
Also in the formidable field with a fast SB of 11.01s is Celera Barnes, Liberia's Maia Mccoy at 11.02s, New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs at 11.11s, and indoor standout Jacious Sears.
With the above athletes already in good form, Jackson will be gunning to not just bounce back to winning ways but also run a fast time and prove she's making progress in training and should be ready to challenge for a medal at the World Championships in Tokyo by September.
Her fierce rival Sha'Carri Richardson already ran her first race of the year last weekend at the Seiko Grand Prix in Tokyo, where she finished fourth in 11.46s, Jackson will aim to have a better performance to build her confidence for the rest of the season.
Having ran 22.79s to finish second in the 200m at the Xiamen Diamond League, the reigning world champion will have her eyes set on a sub-11s time, which will see her regain her prominence as one of the world's best female sprinters.
