According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Sevilla and Montpellier are in the final stages, with the 24-year-old expected to sign a permanent deal.
Adams, who began his professional journey in Norway with Lillestrøm, impressed in Scandanavia with 28 goals in 50 appearances, earning him a move to Montpellier in 2023, where he initially shone with seven goals in his first nine Ligue 1 matches.
However, his form has dipped, with just three goals in 15 games this season, but he remains vital for struggling Montpellier, who are rooted to the bottom of Ligue 1.
Sevilla building a Nigerian core
Despite his importance, financial difficulties at the club have prompted Montpellier to consider selling Adams to Sevilla.
If finalised, Adams' transfer will continue Sevilla's growing association with Nigerian talent. Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho are both currently with the LaLiga giants, although, the latter could depart the club before the close of the transfer window.
Sevilla fans will hope that Adams can rediscover his goal-scoring prowess in La Liga, contributing to the team's ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.
For Adams, the move offers a chance to revive his career in one of Europe’s top leagues and stake a strong claim for a place in future Super Eagles squads.
