Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah recently revealed that he is still working on building connections with new signing Hugo Ekitike.

The 33-year-old retains his spot on the right wing of Liverpool’s attack; however, he has a new support cast in Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.

The French striker has taken to life in Merseyside, with three goal contributions in as many matches. Salah, on the other hand, has had a slow start to the season, although with two goal contributions already, he has not hit his typical stride.

What Salah said

In a recent interview with Men in Blazers, the Egypt international attributed his slow start to a lack of chemistry with Ekitike. He said they were working hard at it and trusted that they would soon build the connection.

“So far, I didn’t figure the connections out yet,” Salah said. “Like with Darwin (Nunez) or Lucho (Luis Diaz) or the guys that used to play in front, or Diogo (Jota).

“I know where to start with Diogo or Darwin. I know where to find them. I knew their game very well, but with Hugo, he’s still new.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been crowned the Professional Footballers' Association's men's player of the year.

“Sometimes, I need the ball in the field. Sometimes we need [it] in space. We are trying to figure that out through the training sessions or, like, the videos. The manager shows us. So I will figure it out soon because it’s also going to help my game to grow as well.”
