Eric Chelle claimed his first win as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, having given a difficult task upon his arrival.
The Super Eagles struggled in their first four games of their World Cup qualifiers, with just three draws and one loss, having just three points and are in fifth place in Group C.
However, they were able to get a 2-0 victory over stubborn Rwanda in Kigali to increase their hope of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Super Eagles' shot-stopper, Stanley Nwabali, had little to do in the game but did what he needed to do when called upon.
Bright Osayi - 6
Fenerbache right back Bright Osayi was solid with his positioning and stood his ground in one-on-one duels, also helping both in attack.
Troost Ekong - 6
Troost Ekong was composed at the back and coordinated his players. The captain was good with his aerial dwells, limiting Rwanda's attack aerially
Calvin Bassey - 6
Calvin Bassey’s pairing with Ekong at the back was stable, as both players complemented themselves and never gave the Rwandan attack any chance.
Ola Aina - 6
Ola Aina brought his excellent Premier League form into the clash and was doing his bit both in defence and in attack.
Wilfred Ndidi - 6
Wilfred Ndidi had a bit of a quiet game but was solid in his defensive midfield role for the Super Eagles. He shielded the back four and made some vital interceptions.
Alex Iwobi - 6
Alex Iwobi contributed to the Super Eagles attack, trying to spring passes into the final third. However, his impact on the game was minimal.
Samuel Chukwueze - 7
Despite Samuel Chukwueze’s unimpressive performance, he was still able to help his team in the attacking phase of the game. The winger created the chance for the second goal of the game, scored by Osimhen.
Moses Simon - 5
Moses Simon had little impact on the game and was not at his best. His presence in the attacking phase did little and most times he lost the ball.
Ademola Lookman - 8
Ademola Lookman was at the top of his game against Rwanda. The winger, despite being played behind Osimhen, had a good connection with his partner in attack. He provided the assist for the first goal of the game with a perfect cross.
Victor Osimhen- 10
Victor Osimhen had one of the best games of his life in the Super Eagles shirt. The striker took his scoring form into the game and produced two exceptional goals to help the Super Eagles claim a comfortable victory.
