The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach stated that he is happy in Algeria and is discussing a contract extension. Rulani Mokwena joined the historic Algerian club MC Alger in July 2025, marking a bold new chapter in his coaching career.

He achieved significant success this season by leading the club to a 1–0 victory over rivals USM Alger to claim the Algerian Super Cup in January 2026.

This victory represents a major personal milestone for Rulani Mokwena, as it is the first piece of silverware he has earned outside of South African football.

In continental competition, the club sits third in Group C of the CAF Champions League, having secured one point from their opening two matches.
