Ruben Amorim: I don't care about Liverpool, I want to win the Premier League
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has said that he does not care about being above Liverpool on the Premier League log; instead, he maintains he is targeting a bigger goal—the championship.
Man United on the up?
The Red Devils had their two worst seasons in the Premier League league in the two years leading to this campaign (finishing 8th and 15th). Despite their splurge in the summer, this season also started poorly.
However, they seemed to have steadied the ship, winning three games in a row, including a 2-1 victory against their bitterest Premier League rivals, Liverpool.
Manchester United are now above the Reds on the log. Given the fact that Liverpool are the champions, spent the most money in the transfer window, and have not finished behind the Red Devils since the 2020/21 season, being behind Manchester United with nine games into the season is worthy of note.
What Amorim said
However, Amorim does not find the feat particularly interesting, insisting that he does not care that they are currently above Arne Slot's side on the log. The Portuguese tactician has his eyes trained on a bigger goal.
“I could not care less about being up in front of Liverpool,” he told Stan Sport. “I just want to win EVERY game and finish top of the league. I want to be in that position to be the champions of the Premier League!”
Manchester United face struggling Nottingham Forest this weekend and they stand a viable chance of extending their winning run to four matches and even cracking into the top four.
