Man United want Ter Stegen

Barcelona’s captain and No. 1, Marc-André ter Stegen, emerged in the summer as a realistic transfer target for Manchester United after a perfect storm of form, fitness and squad change, specifically the arrival of Joan Garcia at Barcelona and the exit of Andre Onana.

The Red Devils, alongside other Premier League clubs, made enquiries about ter Stegen as a possible mid-season solution, according to ESPN.

Ter Stegen is currently carrying a long-term injury. He underwent back surgery in July and was ruled out for roughly three months.

He has a contract running until June 2028 and has faced a genuine challenge for his place after Barcelona signed Joan García from Espanyol in the summer.

García has impressed and been used as first choice while Ter Stegen recovered. Barcelona even briefly stripped then reinstated Ter Stegen’s captaincy amid the fallout over his recovery and registration issue.

While Manchester United have signed Senne Lammens, there are reports that they want Ter Stegen to provide experience in the position. However, according to Dario AS, the Germany international continues to insist that he has no intention of leaving Barcelona.
