Report: Barcelona 'angry' at star forward for getting injured
Barcelona are reportedly angry at Robert Lewandowski, believing that his injury, sustained while on international break with Poland, was preventable.
Lewandowski's injury
Barcelona’s injury crisis has deepened following Lewandowski's injury on international duty, with the striker suffering a muscle tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh while playing for Poland.
The 37-year-old completed the match despite feeling discomfort, and this annoyed Barcelona, per GFNS. Subsequent scans confirmed he would be sidelined for four to six weeks, missing crucial fixtures including the trip to Girona, Champions League clashes with Olympiacos and Club Brugge, and El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26.
Barcelona’s crisis
His absence piles more pressure on Hansi Flick, who has already been juggling a depleted squad this season. Barcelona’s forward line has been hit particularly hard, with Raphinha still recovering from a thigh problem and Lamine Yamal managing a groin/pubic issue that forced him to withdraw from Spain duty earlier this month.
The crisis extends far beyond the attack. Gavi remains sidelined until at least March 2026 following meniscus surgery, while Marc-André ter Stegen is still recuperating from back surgery and may not return until the new year.
Even Joan GarcÃa, who briefly displaced Ter Stegen as first choice, underwent a meniscus operation in early October. Dani Olmo has also been missing with a calf strain, further weakening the midfield’s creative options.
