Gor Mahia players on Tuesday morning received Ksh725,000 from ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi. The money was a settlement of winning bonuses promised by Owalo.
The players had gone without receiving their bonuses for the last 5 matches. Gor are unbeaten in their last 9 league matches, which includes a resounding 5-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Vihiga United at Kasarani Stadium 3 weeks ago.

Speaking at the event, Owalo, an ardent Gor Mahia fan revealed that he offered to hand the players their winning bonuses as motivation for the level of performances they have shown recently, sustaining their quest for a first Premier League title in 3 years.
"As a fan and at a personal level, I'm very impressed with the team's performance in the league,"
He also promised to help the club acquire a new bus.
"It's a great concern. I have had a lot of appeals in the last five years that as supporters of the club we should come together and get the club a bus. I want to assure you, without fear of contradiction, that we shall get a bus in the not so distant future," Owalo said.
On top of player bonuses, the security team also received 75,000 shillings for their efforts to enhance the security of the players and coaching staff.
