Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger Rodrygo Goes has said he would be pleased if French superstar Kylian Mbappe joined Los Blancos this summer after the exit of former captain Karim Benzema at the end of the season.
Rodrygo would be happy with Mbappe signing
Rodrygo claimed during a recent press conference that Real Madrid needed a player in that position (centre-forward) after Benzema’s exit, and he would be happy if that player ended up being Mbappe.
Speaking ahead of Brazil’s friendly against Guinea to combat racism, Rodrygo said, “Mbappé? I would be happy with him coming now, even more so with Karim leaving.
"As I said, he is one of the best in the world, and he would certainly help us a lot but we have to respect his contract with PSG."
Mbappe insists on remaining with PSG this year
Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move from PSG this summer after informing the club that he would not be renewing his contract beyond its current expiry date in 2024, leading many to believe that a move to Real Madrid could be on the cards.
Both Mbappe and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez have denied this possibility, with the French forward eyeing the record for the most Ligue 1 golden boots while Los Blancos’ boss looks forward to a free transfer next season.
It seems a matter of when not if Mbappe joins Real Madrid at this point, and whether it is this summer or next, the French forward would certainly a very capable replacement for Benzema and could form a lethal frontline with Rodygo and Vinicius Junior for Los Blancos.
