Real Madrid star explains how and why he rejected Liverpool

Real Madrid sensation Rodrygo recently opened up about rejecting a possible move to Liverpool in favour of sticking with Santos and later signing with the legendary Spanish club.

The Brazilian star shared insights into his decision-making process and the factors that led him to ultimately choose Real Madrid over the Premier League giants.

Rodrygo, who joined Real Madrid in 2019 from Santos, shockingly admitted that he turned down the opportunity to join Liverpool, citing a lack of desire to make the move.

Despite the promising pathway to Europe that Liverpool offered, the young forward opted to stay loyal to his hometown club, Santos.

“We didn’t close the deal because I didn’t want to. I wanted to stay at Santos even though the offer was very good," Rodrygo said, per The Mirror.

"The pathway they promised me would also have been very good for my career. I was going to finish my studies in England to prepare for European football.

"It had always been my dream to play in Europe. Everything was very good, but my desire spoke louder. I wanted to stay at Santos and make a bit of history at the club. And that’s what happened: I was able to fulfil my dream of playing for Santos. But it’s true, I almost went to Liverpool.

In contrast to his rejection of Liverpool, Rodrygo highlighted that selecting Real Madrid was a straightforward decision. When the Spanish giants came calling, the Brazilian star wasted no time in accepting the offer, signaling a pivotal moment in his career trajectory.
