PSG considering punishment for Messi after unauthorised absence
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering a sanction for Lionel Messi after he skipped training for an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.
The future of the World Cup winner is up in the air as his current deal expires at the end of the season, and he continues to stall on a new deal with reports linking him back to Barcelona.
Messi could be punished
L'Equipe reports that Messi faces possible sanctions by the club for his decision to travel to Saudi Arabia without the say-so of either the manager Christophe Galtier or club sporting director Lucas Campos.
The matter is said to be handled personally by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi who is reportedly dissatisfied with the Argentine's decision to skip training.
The reports suggest that the issue is under deliberation by the club's leadership, and although no definite decision has been made, a sanction is likely, and could possibly be a fine.
Messi’s trip to Saudi
As we reported earlier, Lionel Messi took a trip to Saudi Arabia on Monday as part of his tourism ambassadorial deal, with Saudi Arabia's tourism minister posting pictures of him and his family in the country on his social media.
The report goes on to claim that although Messi asked for permission to make the trip, his request was not granted by either Galtier or sporting director Lucas Campos.
