President Tinubu recieves Super Eagles and presents them with gifts following AFCON outing
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been given a hero welcome by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Federal Capital Territory following their AFCON 2023 silver medal finish.
The Nigerian national team players landed in the country’s capital today. Shortly after, photos and videos surfaced on the internet, showing the national heroes meeting with the president of the federation.
Super Eagles received in Abuja
Although they failed at the last step, the Nigerian national team were a source of immense pride and succour for the citizens of the country during the African Cup of Nations.
They daringly reached the final, against great odds, before falling to a 2-1 defeat to the host country, Ivory Coast.
As is customary, following remarkable sporting achievements, the country's government hosted the players and members of staff to extend the nation's gratitude to her ambassadors.

The players, as well as members of the coaching staff, were in uniform, clad in green Friday-native attire while wearing caps in the national dual colours of green and white.
Players presented with awards and prizes
Besides the coveted presidential acknowledgement, the players were also presented with tangible prizes.
Each of the players was conferred the national honour of MON (Member of the Order of Niger), and their awards were handed to them by Mr. President himself.
According to Dada Olusegun, a 'special assistant’ to the presidency on social media, the players were also gifted one flat as well as a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory.
