Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau 'dissapointed' after Tusker draw
Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau was disappointed after allowing Tusker a foothold back into the game as his side blew a lead to draw 1-1 in an FKF Premier League match played at the Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mailmen took the lead in the ninth minute through Jackson Dwang' before Tusker subjected them to a series of pressure and forced a draw. They should have conceded more, but they held their nerves to frustrate the Brewers and prevent them from getting all three points.
“Tusker have managed to get a draw from us because, in the second half, we had like five clear-cut chances from counter-attacking situations and isolated the keeper when one on one,” Kamau said.
“For me, I think we helped Tusker achieve their objective but I am disappointed because the way we conceded went against what we have been working on. A direct ball to the wings for the cross and we gifted them a cheap goal.”
Rangers ceded a lot of fouls and were constantly bombarded with long balls from free kicks, corners, and throw-ins, with Levin Odhiambo whipping in crosses at every available opportunity while Daniel Sakari was like a human shovel, launching dangerous throw-ins into the box.
“When you play with a team that likes to play direct long balls, you cannot press high up the pitch. They will force you to move next to your 18-yard box. With long balls, that is a battle.
"We expected the team to give many fouls away considering the long-ball situations but I am happy we did not concede through many set-piece situations.
The result now means Posta are 12th on 40 points with one game left to play. They will face Banari on Sunday to cap off their season.
