As he prepares to go up against his mentor Kipchoge for global stardom, Kipruto is glad that he has been working closely with the two-time Olympic champion who has become a great source of inspiration.

“Eliud has inspired me not only in athletes but also in his discipline and humble life, the way he is and I like that about him. It’s so important for us because we don’t go far to get an example, we just get it from home, that’s Eliud,” he added.

Kipruto will contest for a top finish going up against a strong contingent from Kenya and Ethiopia. He will enjoy the company of five-time Berlin Marathon champion Kipchoge and London Marathon winner Alexander Mutiso.

The Ethiopian charge will be led by Kenenisa Bekele who will be joined by Tamirat Tola and Deresa Geleta.

“The strength should start from the mind before it is distributed to the legs…you need to be strong-minded to attack the marathon,” Kipruto said.
