Club Captain Justus Mathenge Expresses Excitement

“We are excited to welcome some of golf’s leading figures to Ruiru for the Legendary Golf Day. This collaboration with top corporate partners allows us to offer a memorable experience, with attractive prizes up for grabs. Our course is in excellent condition, providing the perfect stage for talent to shine,” Justus Mathenge added.

Action on the 18-hole course will begin at 6:40 am, with afternoon groups scheduled to tee off from 10:50 am. The event enjoys strong backing from First Assurance and Kingdom Bank, among other partners, further underscoring its growing prestige in the golfing calendar.

Defending Champion Among Top Contenders

Leading the field is James Njogu, a founder of the Legendary Golfers and last year’s champion, who is determined to defend his crown.

“My swing is in perfect condition, and I feel ready to defend the title,” affirmed Njogu, expressing his readiness for another shot at glory.

Also, in the spotlight is Grace Miano, who recently won the overall ladies’ title at the September Pendant Golf event with a superb net score of 70.

Joining her in contention are long-hitting single handicapper John Mburu and the talented Nathaniel Nguithi, both eager to make their mark.

Miano, who trains at Ruiru, says her confidence is high after recent performances: “Building on my recent success against the country’s best amateurs, I’m eager to compete in what promises to be a highly competitive tournament. My form and confidence are strong, and I’m aiming to make a mark from the very start.”

This year’s edition also serves as part of the broader Ruiru Sports Club activities calendar, which has attracted major corporate entities such as IPF to host flagship events at the scenic Thika Road venue earlier in the year.
