NPFL Standings: Sporting Lagos relegated to NNL without a single away win

Sporting Lagos have been relegated from the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, after a dismal first season in the top division. 

Pulse Sports reports that the Tech Boys were condemned to the drop after a narrow 1-0 defeat against Shooting Stars of Ibadan on the final day of the campaign on Sunday.

The heartbreaking loss was sealed by a first-half header from former Rivers United man Christina Pyagbara, who proved to be the hero for the home side in the celebrated Southwest derby. 

Sporting Lagos went into the crucial match already facing the prospect of relegation, desperately hoping for other results to go their way.

Sadly, their prayers were not answered, and the Tech Boys ultimately fell short, failing to secure a single away win throughout the entire season. 

The devastating blow means Sporting Lagos will now compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season, leaving their loyal fans, known as the Noisy Lagosians, in a state of despair.

This is a bitter pill to swallow for the once-promising team, who will now have to regroup and fight their way back to the top flight. 

The road ahead will be challenging, but the Tech Boys must dust themselves off and work tirelessly to secure promotion next year.

Only time will tell if they have the resilience to bounce back from this heartbreaking relegation.
