NPFL: Enyimba humiliate Rivers United in brutal Aba battering - Pride of Rivers burnt badly
In a sensational display of dominance, defending champions Enyimba FC proved too powerful for their visitors Rivers United in a one-sided Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, clash on Sunday.
The Aba Millionaires, determined to keep the pressure on league leaders Rangers International, staged an incredible comeback after finding themselves trailing early on.
Enyimba thrash Rivers United
It was Rivers United who had started the brighter, with in-form striker Andy Okpe putting the visitors ahead after just 14 minutes.
However, Enyimba's top scorer Mbaoma Chijioke quickly levelled the scores before the half-time break and then put the hosts in front shortly after the restart.
The floodgates then opened, as Elijah Akanni added two more goals in the space of 10 second-half minutes to hand Enyimba an emphatic victory.
Just a week after handing a similar thrashing to newly-promoted Sporting Lagos, United were on the receiving end of a comprehensive defeat by the reigning NPFL champions.

The win sees Enyimba move to within just two points of league leaders Rangers, who dropped points in a goalless draw against Sporting Lagos.
This result is sure to send shockwaves through the NPFL, with Enyimba demonstrating their title-winning credentials in stunning fashion. The race for the championship looks set to go down to the wire.
