Premier League legend Alan Shearer has stated that winning the league title is a non-negotiable requirement for Arsenal this season.
The Gunners have been agonizingly close to success in recent years, finishing as runners-up for the last three consecutive seasons.
However, the heavy investment made by Mikel Arteta this summer, bringing in high-profile talents like Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie, Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, and Cristhian Mosquera, has raised the stakes dramatically.
Alan Shearer says Arsenal must win Premier League title
Shearer believes Arteta understands the immense pressure to finally end the club's long wait for the title.
“It has to be Arsenal’s year to win the Premier League.
“They’ve spent an absolute fortune, finished second for the last three years, so we know, and Arteta knows that the eyes will be on him and he has to win the Premier League this year.
"When you spend the amount of money that they have, second is no good.”
Arsenal are currently top of the standings after defeating Alex Iwobi's Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage.
