No fear - Chelsea star boasts like Maresca before Club World Cup showdown with PSG
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has reiterated Enzo Maresca’s pre-match comments about the Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues are considered underdogs against the European champions, who observers are predicting will secure a comfortable victory, especially after their impressive wins in the Champions League final against Inter Milan, a dominant group stage performance against Atletico Madrid and their semi-final success over Real Madrid.
Speaking before Sunday’s encounter with Luis Enrique’s side, Maresca indicated that the Blues’ preparations would be the same as for any other opponent, a sentiment Colwill has now supported.
What Colwill said about PSG final
The centre-back expressed confidence in their established playing style, asserting that having reached the final playing their brand of football, the team sees no reason to change now.
“We’ve got this far playing our football, so why would we change that now?” Colwill stated.
“We believe in ourselves, I believe in us and I think we can beat anyone so we’re going to take that confidence going into the game.
“To know that we’ve made it this far, it’s been a really good achievement, but it’s not over yet. We’ve not come here just to make the final, we’ve come here to win. That’s what we’re all looking forward to trying to do, to preparing really well for.”
Colwill, who was suspended in the semi-final win over Fluminense, should return to the team from the off against the Ligue 1 side.
What’s next for Chelsea?
Chelsea players depart for their holidays after the Club World Cup final, returning in time for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 season.
