Millions John Korir and Joyciline Jepkosgei Pocketed for Winning Valencia Marathon

Kenyan runners had a good day at the office at the Valencia Marathon on Sunday as they collected millions following their dominant show.
John Korir and Joyciline Jepkosgei won the men’s and women’s race respectively with Peres Jepchirchir finishing second and their wins saw them pocket a bumper prize money.
Korir won the men’s race in a personal best 2:02:24, the eight fastest time in history, while Jepkosgei broke the course record as she clocked a personal best 2:14:00, beating the previous mark of 2:14:58 set in 2022, and clocking the fourth fastest time of all-time.
How Much Will Go to the Kenyan Runners?
That guarantees the two of them over Ksh10 million each in earnings from the race given at Valencia Marathon, winners take home €75,000 (Ksh11.3 million) each if they finish insider 2:04:30 for men and 2:20:00 for women.
With both Kenyan runners hitting this requirement, Korir and Jepkosgei each took home Ksh11.3 million but there is more in store for the latter for breaking the course record.
That feat will earn the 31-year-old Jepkosgei an extra bonus of €30,000 (Ksh4.5 million), taking her total payout in Valencia to Ksh15.8 million.
Meanwhile, Peres Jepchirchir will take home €45,000 (Ksh6.7 million) which is the prize reserved for athletes who finish second in Valencia.
