The highly anticipated bout, held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, ended when Majembe knocked out his opponent in the fourth round. However, the victory was immediately shrouded in controversy, with fans and even the boxers themselves disagreeing on whether the decisive blow was a legal punch.

Mbavu has consistently maintained that he was hit with an illegal low blow to the abdomen. To support his claim, he has shared videos on social media showing him walking with apparent difficulty since the fight.

Court documents reveal that Mbavu is seeking immediate relief orders from the tribunal. He is demanding that the fight's result be overturned and that he be declared the rightful winner, alleging a gross error by the judges.

What is Majembe Looking to Gain?

The fighter is also seeking the full prize package awarded to Majembe. This includes over Ksh2.5 million in prize money, a Toyota Voxy valued at Ksh4 million, a Taro GP1 sport bike, and the championship belt.

The lawsuit names Majembe and the fight's convener, Oga Obinna, as respondents, with the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) listed as an interested party.

There is also an order for the KPBC to declare a technical decision in his favour, making him the Vurugu champion. An order compelling the fight organisers to reverse the decision and award him the victory. An order to award him the complete winner's prize package. Alternatively, an order for the fight to be declared a technical draw, with a mandatory rematch to determine the true champion.

The case has been certified as urgent and is scheduled for a mention on Wednesday, April 15.
