For his victory, Majembe was awarded the official Vurugu Championship Belt, KSh1,000,000 in prize money, a brand-new Toyota Noah from betting firm Odi Bets, and a Taro GP1 sport bike valued at Sh385,000.

President William Ruto contributed significantly, pledging Sh1,000,000 to each fighter for their training camps and purchasing 2,000 tickets for fans, a total investment of Sh4,000,000.

Other notable contributions included a Sh2,000,000 pledge from Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri and a Sh200,000 cash donation from businessman Oketch Salah. ODM leader Oburu Oginga also made a financial contribution.

In the lead-up to the fight, the 25-year-old Mbavu Destroyer was the more flamboyant of the two, gaining notoriety through his TikTok live sessions and unconventional training methods, which famously included receiving prayers and Sh50,000 from Pastor Kanyari.

In contrast, the 21-year-old Majembe maintained a more reserved approach, focusing on his preparation for the ring.
