Mason Greenwood wonder goal inspires Getafe to win against Almeria

Getafe came from behind to seal all three points against Almeria with Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood stealing the show at the Coliseum. 

Greenwood netted a wonder goal as the Blues defeated their visitors 2-1 in a keenly contested clash on Saturday night.

Almeria started the brightest and were rewarded with an early lead courtesy of another Manchester United graduate, Largie Ramazani.

A goalkeeping error could have seen Almeria double their lead but Leo Baptistao failed to make the Getafe and their goalkeeper pay.

10 minutes later, the home punished Almeria when Greenwood netted a stunning strike from just outside to box to equalise. 

The goal was Greenwood’s second of the season but first at home for Getafe, with three assists to the 21-year-old’s name, too.

Borja Mayoral completed the comeback when he tucked home from a deflected effort to give Getafe the lead which they held on to seal the win and three points.

With the win, Getafe remain unbeaten at home, with the latest win taking them to eighth on the LALIGA EA SPORTS standings.

For Almeria, the defeat means they continue to flirt with relegation, with just six points separating them from LALIGA safety.
