Marcus Rashford: Cassano cites major stumbling block to Serie A transfer

Former Italy international Antonio Cassano has expressed his admiration for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, but believes that his high wages could prevent a move to Serie A. 

Cassano, speaking on Viva El Futbol, described the Englishman as a "fantastic player" and praised his abilities, but highlighted the financial constraints facing Italian clubs.

Rashford has been linked with a move to Serie A, with Juventus, AC Milan and Como reportedly interested in his services. 

Milan are even believed to have submitted an offer to Manchester United; however, Cassano doubts that any Italian club can afford the forward’s salary, which is reportedly in the region of €12 million per year.

“We are talking about a fantastic player; I go crazy for him,” Cassano told Viva El Futbol via Football Italia.  “One and a half years ago, not three or five, he had finished the season with 28 goals playing as an attacking winger.

“The problem is that he earns €12m per season. Who can afford him in Italy? Nobody can. He would be fantastic for Milan and Juventus, but I don’t think he can join our league.”

Rashford's future in Manchester remains uncertain, with the forward having publicly expressed his desire to leave the club in January. 

His agent has been spotted in Italy holding talks with interested clubs, but a move to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund is also a possibility.
