United boss Ten Hag has been open about his desire to bring in competition for De Gea, but he has also been staunch in his defence of the Spaniard and has pushed for him to sign a new deal.

The Red Devils had been set to agree and announce a deal with De Gea but late interest from Saudi Arabia's Pro League threatened to complicate the situation.
